Carson Ellis is an award-winning children's book illustrator and author, born in Canada and based in Portland, Oregon. She received the Caldecott Honor in 2017 for "Du Iz Tak?", two silver medals from the Society of Illustrators, two Grammy Award nominations, and the California Young Readers Medal.

She occasionally works as an editorial illustrator for The New Yorker, The New York Times, and other publications. Carson Ellis also exhibits her paintings and is represented by Nationale gallery in Portland. Ellis is recognized for her unique pictorial universe, nourished by popular art, art history, and mysticism.
