LOT 28 — Haiti my country, by Rogé

"Haiti my country" is a giclee print, signed and numbered 16/30, of an original work created with acrylic and collage by the artist Rogé. Size 16 × 20 inches. Framed size: 21 x 22.5 inches.

This work is part of a series of portraits that the artist created, published in the magnificent illustrated album of the same name, fueled by the energy and hope of seeing schools in Haiti quickly rebuilt, one year after the tragedy of the earthquake of January 2010. Haitian author Dany Laferrière signed the preface to this album, which The New York Times also chose among the ten best illustrated books of 2014.

Rogé lives and works in Montreal, where he now devotes himself entirely to non-figurative painting, after a prolific career in graphic design and children's illustration. His pictorial work was recently presented at the Erga gallery (Montreal) as well as at the Frieze fair in Los Angeles.
