Illustration by Charlotte Parent, hand-painted on a vase created by Montreal ceramist Ronald Pothier. This unique piece, approximately 12 cm high, is ideal for holding pencils, paintbrushes, flowers, lattes, or anything else. This vase is part of a collection of 20 pieces illustrated by 19 great artists.

Charlotte Parent is an award-winning illustrator and children's picture book author who lives and works in Montreal. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University, where she specialized in drawing. Among the books she has written are Le Bonnet magique by Mireille Messier, Milo le chevalier by Grégoire Laforce, and Le premier arbre de Noël by Ovila Fontaine. The latter won the prestigious Governor General's Literary Award for Children's Literature in the illustrated book category in 2024. The English version, The First Christmas Tree, will be published by Orca Books in 2025. Her first picture book as an author and illustrator, Murielle et le mystère, has just been published in French by Comme des géants. The artist's work is characterized by soft colors, moving lines and shapes, playful patterns, and lush textures. Charlotte Parent uses a variety of traditional techniques, including colored pencils, gouache, and ink. She enjoys children's stories that are refreshing, thoughtful, and a little quirky.
